The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), formerly known as the Electronic Industry Standardization Institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Fourth Electronic Research Institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and commonly referred to as "CAICT" or "Electronic Four Institute," was established in 1963. It is a public institution directly affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, serving as the nation's fundamental, public-interest-oriented, and comprehensive research organization dedicated to standardization in the field of electronic information technology.

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) operates government-authorized and internationally recognized laboratories, certification bodies, and workstations. It has established branches in cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Suzhou. Leveraging platforms like CAICT Labs, CAICT Certification, CAICT Training, and CAICT Information Services, the academy provides market-oriented, customer-focused services—including specialized testing and inspection, metrological calibration, certification assessments, and training consultations—while playing a pivotal role as a technical cornerstone in standardization and conformity evaluation within the electronics information and industrial sectors.
