China Electronics Technology Group Corporation No. 58 Institute

The 58th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation is a key research institute in China, specializing in the scientific research and production of military-grade integrated circuits. It serves as a vital supplier and service provider of national defense ICs, primarily focusing on the R&D and manufacturing of ultra-large-scale integrated circuits. The institute boasts a complete industry chain, covering everything from IC design and fabrication to testing, packaging, reliability assessment, and application support. Over more than 30 years of development, CETC 58 has evolved into a comprehensive, state-of-the-art service platform for military ICs, offering end-to-end, multi-faceted solutions tailored to the entire defense industry. It operates the country’s only domestically developed, fully controllable 0.13μm mask-making production line, along with specialized military-standard lines for 5/6-inch processes ranging from 0.5μm to 3.0μm CMOS technology, as well as an 8-inch standard line capable of handling 0.13μm to 0.18μm CMOS processes. Additionally, the institute has established advanced process platforms such as radiation-resistant 0.8μm and 0.6μm SOI CMOS technologies, alongside HV SOI capabilities. CETC 58 is also the first domestic manufacturer to achieve military-standard ceramic packaging production, offering cutting-edge solutions like 2200-Pin high-density ceramic encapsulation and SiP/3D packaging technologies. Furthermore, it has built one of the most comprehensive testing service platforms in China, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for screening, qualification, verification, and failure analysis—certified under both national and defense laboratory standards. To meet diverse customer needs, the institute provides a 12-inch wafer-level microsystem manufacturing service platform, enabling customized design and fabrication of microsystems—from functional-level chip layouts to full-scale manufacturing solutions. This includes bare-chip KGD testing, electromagnetic and thermal simulations, heterogeneous 3D integration, and rigorous reliability assessments. Since its establishment, CETC 58 has pioneered China’s first ultra-large-scale integrated circuit and has undertaken over 500 critical national research projects. The institute has earned 18 national awards and nearly 200 provincial and ministerial-level honors. Each year, it supplies a vast array of essential military components to China’s leading defense industries, including aerospace, aviation, weaponry, and naval sectors. Many of these products have filled critical domestic gaps, breaking foreign export restrictions and significantly boosting the localization rate of core electronic components. CETC 58’s product portfolio spans a wide range of chips, including SoCs/SiPs, DSPs, FPGAs, MCUs, EEPROMs, DDSs, AD/DA converters, ASICs, and power management devices, as well as integrated modules, boards, components, and microsystems. The company has also expanded into emerging IoT applications such as secure communications, industrial control systems, smart home solutions, and wearable devices. In particular, its modular board products encompass innovative offerings like microwave RF modules, solid-state storage solutions, SiP-based microsystem integrations, power modules, and high-performance communication, data, and image-processing systems—all complemented by robust data security and storage solutions. Looking ahead, CETC 58 remains steadfastly committed to its core value of "National Interests Above All," while diligently pursuing its historic mission: advancing China’s semiconductor technology and ensuring the self-reliant, secure supply of critical ICs for the nation’s information systems and weapon platforms. Driven by a talent-centric approach, relentless innovation, and deep integration of military and civilian sectors, the institute will continue enhancing its competitive edge, strengthening its modern enterprise framework, and executing its strategic "1-2-3-4-5" transformation plan. Ultimately, CETC 58 aims to become a world-class, industry-leading provider of integrated products and services, delivering unparalleled excellence both domestically and globally.

How to Use a Multiphase Boost Converter

When the required system voltage exceeds the available supply voltage, a boost converter is typically an ideal solution. However, conventional standard boost topologies are not the only option. In certain application scenarios, phase-shifted multiphase boost converters can deliver superior performance: these converters achieve higher efficiency under heavy-load conditions while significantly reducing the required capacitance values for both the input and output stages.
